Bragging Rights

The Pew Center surveys on political knowledge get a lot of attention, and rightly so. Stephen Colbert half-mocked his audience and how well they did on the three-question survey.

And now, bragging rights.

Harper's Magazine put out a company profile today that notes "the Pew Foundation reported that Harper’s readers pay particularly close attention to national news and stand out for their political knowledge."

Yup, they stood out. As in tops. Number 1. But to be fair, the category was "The New Yorker, The Atlantic and Harper's Magazine." In other words, the so-called elite magazines. Harper's alone would not have been enough to generate a respectable number of respondents so the Pew folks collapsed the three together.

So yeah, bragging rights. Kinda, sorta. And while's it's a damn good mag, it's even more fun to see Pew survey results and what people know used as a selling point. Makes my weekend.
