Okay, What Texans Don't Know

Nearly a third of Texans believe humans and dinosaurs walked the Earth at the same time and another 30 percent aren't sure, according to this survey of what Texans know and believe.

And over half, despite all the scientific evidence, don't think humans developed from earlier species.  Be afraid of this state.  Be very afraid.

Thanks to PR guru Karen Russell for pointing this one out to me.

Yo, Brent -- it's not my poll. And if you're offering a critique of its methodology, you'll have to do a lot better than "idiotic." Actually the questions are fairly straightforward and appear in line with others that attempt to measure what people know.

Keep in mind that Leno's on-the-street thing, while I agree is funny as hell, is not a random sample. He selectively chooses who participates and then selectively picks out the funniest to show. That's okay -- it's TV after all -- but it's not a scientific survey.

I agree, there are idiots everywhere.
